MUHAMMED AHMED BIN ABD ALLAH
(1844 – 1885)
Constitutional Revolution
I want to write about AL-Madiah because
he was a very famous man in my country Sudan.
He was born on Labab Island in Northern Sudan.
He studied and memorized the Holy Qur’an while studying with
three famous Sufi scholars in Sudan. He
was known as intelligent among his colleagues, and showed special talent
and leadership at an early age . From Aba Island in the middle region of
Sudan, he started his revolution against
the corrupted Turkish and Egyptian government. The government sent
small army to keep his revolution in the early stage, but he and
his followers conquered the government army in a battle. Then he and his
troops left Aba to Kurdofan and there many people joined him from
North and Middle West and East region of Sudan.
The government tried to make him to be governor of Kurdofan , but he refused.
Then he fought in battle of Gadeer then Shaikan. After Shikan battle many
tribes supported his revolution. He made a great army and moving
toward Khartoum which were Capital, and seized from all directions
then he crossed the Nile river from the west bank and captured the Khartoum
and killed Gardon the famous British Colony. He established his Islamic
government. After that, he did not live long, but he left a strong Government
with a strong economy and well established political and social systems. He also succeeded to make unity of Sudanese people under one leadership and
to kick out Turkish, Egyptian, and British Government from Sudan.
With in a few years of struggle and fighting, he gave the country independence and freedom.
