Iranian History
Iran is situated in South Western Asia and borders the three states- The Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Republic of Turkmenistan- as well as the Caspian Sea to the North, Turkey and Iraq to the west, the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman to the south, and Pakistan and Afghanistan to the East.  The Caspian Sea is the largest landlocked body of water in the world.  Oil was discovered in Persian Gulf in 1908, and the oil revenues dominate the economy of Iran.  The population is approximately 65 million and the capital city is Tehran.
I was born and lived in Tehran for thirty years.  The climate of Tehran has four distinct seasons with hot summers and cold snowy winters and mild springs and autumns.
The written history of Iran begins with the early Achaemenids, some 2,500 years ago.  Iranian are Aryans and the Aryan legend began 3000 years ago on the Iranian plateau.  When the Ice Age began, the Aryan tribe, which inhabited the Siberian plains, migrated southward to warmer climates.  During the migration the original tribe separated into factions.  One faction reached and settled on the Iranian plateau.  The other continued Westward to the continental plateau subsequently interbred with European natives resulting in the half-bred Germanic race.
Iran is an ancient country  with a long history full of events and prospers and difficult times.  One of the ancient capitals of Persia; its ruins are at Takht-eJamshid; it was used as a residence by the Achaemenid kings.
The site consists of the remains of several monumental building on a vast stone terrace surrounded by a brick wall.  The  palace and audience hall of Darius1 contain Sculptured reliefs depicting Achaemenid court ceremonies.  Thirteen of the Apadana's massive stone columns are still standing, and its broad double staircase has been restored by archaeologists.
