TURKEY

      The Republic of Turkey is a democratic, secular and social State governed by the rule of law; bearing the concepts of public peace in mind, national solidarity and justice; respecting human rights and loyal to the nationalism of Ataturk. The Turkish State, with its territory and nation, is an indivisible entity. The official language of the Turkish State is Turkish, and its capital is Ankara. Its neighbors are Irak, Iran, Suriye, Bulgaria, Greece, Azerbeycan and Ozbekistan. 
      Turkish folk dance, which comes from the Ottomans, has many kinds of dance styles and is based on region and location. We dance at almost every gathering, such as marriages,  sending sons to the army, and holidays. 
        Turkish folk music also comes  from the Ottomans. Until recently, folk music was not written down, and the traditions have been kept alive by the asiklar, or Turkish troubadours. 
The most known folk dances: 

The Horon
          This dance style is from the  Black Sea region . The people dance really fast ,and they play the Kemence ,  which is a primitive type of violin. 

Klasik Oyunu
          This dance is performed with two spoons and comes from  middle Anotolia. 

The Kilic Kalkan
            This dance is performed with  swords and shields and comes from Bursa. It is performed just by men. 

The Zeybek
     Performed by men only, called efe, dress colorfully, and the dance symbolizes heroism. It comes from Izmir.
