DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO
(ZAIRE)

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is located in Central Africa.
Kinshasa is the capital. We have four national languages: Lingala, Swahili,
Tshiluba, Kikongo, and French as the official language.
Congo Democratic or RDC as people used to call it, has has two main religions: Roman
Catholic and Protestant.
The Democratic Republic of The Congo is the third largest country in Africa. It is a vast country
of dense forest traversed by the powerful Congo River, which is the seventh longest river in
the world.
RDC is also endowed with natural resources: vast mineral deposits, notably cobalt, copper, uranium, gold, and diamonds. The country has rich volcanic soils, and the Congo River tributaries which provide a vast network of navigable waterways and has great hydroelectric potential.
I will talk more about the capital Kinshasa because that is where I grew up.
Kinshasa is big town which contains the country’s main administrative and commercial
headquarters.  People are hard workers in this town because there is not another way to get money in this town. That is why some people go to work in the morning, some of them go to school, or
maybe to the market to sell or buy some thing.
In this city, people like to enjoy themselves more than everywhere in the country. That
is why almost everywhere you going in Africa people like Congolese music. That is why after work, more people don’t go directly home. They like to be with friends, and co-worker somewhere drinking or dancing until late at night that is why people say Kinshasa doesn’t sleep.  The means business in this country is twenty four hours a day.  And it is like that everyday, especially on weekends.  There are concerts almost everywhere and parties too.
In general people are nice everywhere you go in the country.  They always treat
everybody who is coming from another city or country like a brother or sister, and they
think it is right to give them hospitality.
